Secure Guns

Federal law does not currently require gun owners to securely store their firearms. Many states have their own laws mandating safe storage, especially when certain individuals such as children or prohibited persons are present but we need to advocate for law makers to push towards more universal federal laws requiring the secure storage of firearms from gun owners.

Every year hundreds of children die from accidental shootings where the firearm obtained was accessed due to lack of secure storage. Other times, mass shootings in schools specifically have occurred with guns obtained in the homes. Let's be clear all these deaths were PREVENTABLE.

Stronger Gun Laws

The evidence is undeniable, states with stronger gun laws experience lower rates of gun violence.

Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence conducts comprehensive tracking and analysis of firearm legislation across all 50 states, reviewing nearly 2,000 bills each year.

Their annual Gun Law Scorecard evaluates and ranks each state's gun laws, highlighting the correlation between stronger regulations and lower rates of gun violence.

This extensive research serves as a vital resource for policymakers, advocates, and citizens aiming to understand and improve gun safety laws nationwide.
